medical cannabis dispensary

If you’ve recently decided to try medical cannabis, you likely have some questions and concerns. It can be intimidating to step inside a medical cannabis dispensary and not know what to do, which questions to ask, and how to find the products you need. We can help guide you on what to expect at a New Jersey medical cannabis dispensary.

Expect to Be Carded
The MPXNJ Atlantic City location is a medical-only cannabis dispensary. That means we only serve medical cannabis patients, and not adult use consumers, at the dispensary. Before you visit our dispensary, you must be a New Jersey resident and register with the state’s Medicinal Cannabis Program as a patient to obtain a medical cannabis card. Without it, you will not be able to enter the dispensary. When you arrive, the front receptionist will check you in with your medical cannabis card and state-issued ID.

Waiting is Normal
At many medical cannabis dispensaries, it can be standard procedure for the staff to attend to patients individually, and you might experience a brief wait. It can depend on the day of the week, or if you are visiting during a busy time frame, your visit may take slightly longer than expected. For example, a medical cannabis dispensary can get busy during the weekend as most people have extra free time to spend at the dispensary. To reduce your waiting time on your first visit, and to make your check-in process even smoother at MPXNJ, you can register as a medical cannabis patient at our dispensary before your visit. Security Guards Are Common
At MPXNJ, the safety of our patients and our staff is one of our highest priorities. A common sight in the industry is a uniformed guard at the dispensary. Medical cannabis and recreational dispensaries are still primarily cash-run businesses. This is because cannabis is still a Schedule 1 controlled substance at the federal level, and banks are hesitant to work with cannabis businesses. Most dispensaries still deal with cash, primarily. Additionally, cannabis is a hot commodity, and a security guard serves as a deterrent to criminal activity.  Security guards also assist patients in accessing and exiting the dispensary, control the orderly flow of traffic and the parking lot and, generally, help to provide a safe and orderly environment for patients.

Expect to Pay in Cash  Although some medical cannabis dispensaries offer cashless systems, as we mentioned before, most dispensaries remain cash-only businesses. At our MPXNJ dispensary, we also accept CanPay as a form of payment. CanPay is a debit payment app that allows you to pay for your purchases at cannabis retailers with a simple debit to your checking account when you make a purchase. Ask Questions
The first time you visit a medical cannabis dispensary, you will probably have questions. For example, if you suffer from chronic pain, PTSD, or anxiety, different product options can potentially help you. When you speak to a dispensary agent about your concerns regarding your medical needs, you can receive recommendations that might be best suited for your condition. Do not be afraid to ask questions – our staff is here to assist you.
