Steps for Patient Access In NJ

Visit a physician registered with the New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program (the “MCP”) who will diagnose you and provide you with a Reference Number.

Identify an Alternative Treatment Center (an “ATC”), such as Be., where you will purchase your medical cannabis from. You can change your designated ATC at any time.

If necessary, you may designate up to two caregivers to purchase medicinal cannabis for you if you are physically unable to visit an ATC.

Ensure you have the following when you are ready to register:

  1. Your Reference Number
  2. A current (full-face), front-facing photograph of yourself
  3. A current government-issued photo ID
  4. Proof of NJ residency (such as a utility or cell phone bill)
  5. A form of payment
  6. Optional: if you are eligible, you will need proof of government assistance if seeking the reduced registration fee (see “Reduced Fee Eligibility” at https://www.nj.gov/cannabis/medicinalcannabis/patients)

Register online (or by paper form) with the MCP at https://njmmp.nj.gov/njmmp/jsp/patientRegProcess.jsp. The MCP will review your application and documentation and respond via email regarding the status of your application.

Receive your MCP ID card, which will need to be renewed annually.

Bring your valid MCP ID card, valid state ID, and cash or debit card to fill an order at your designated ATC.

*Always carry a valid MCP ID Card while you are in possession of your medicinal cannabis. For help or additional information regarding the patient or caregiver registration process, please call Medicinal Cannabis Program Customer Service at 609-292-0424, or email [email protected].

You may be eligible for the use of medical cannabis if deemed clinically appropriate by your certifying health care provider. Please talk to your practitioner about whether medical cannabis may help you.

All individuals interested in becoming a patient or caregiver must first register with the New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program before having access to purchasing medical cannabis products.
